Online Keyboard Tester Instructions

Compatible with most mainstream keyboards on the market. It can troubleshoot hardware defects such as unresponsive keys, intermittent contact, keystroke repetition, key conflicts and signal latency. Supports standard 104-key, 98-key, 87-key, TKL and 60% compact keyboards, and matches operating habits of both Windows and macOS systems.

Basic Key Test Press physical keys, the matching virtual key on the page will dim to indicate the keystroke signal is captured normally. After releasing the key, the virtual key stays green to mark this key as tested and qualified. Special interception is configured for F1~F12 function keys to block default browser behaviors like page refresh or system help popups, keeping tests uninterrupted.

Single & Multi-Key Indication

• Single key pressed: The top bar displays the key name with corresponding response latency (ms) shown on the right side;
• Two or more keys pressed simultaneously: All pressed key names plus the concurrent key count will be displayed at the top;
• Records of key names and latency will be retained after releasing 1 or 2 keys at once. All prompt data will be cleared automatically after releasing 3 or more pressed keys together with no records kept.

Reset Test Click the Reset button at the upper right corner of the virtual keyboard to clear all green test marks, test statistics, multi-key records and latency data, restoring the initial test-ready state.

Keyboard Zones Introduction

Optimized for standard 104-key layout with three divided functional areas, supporting 61/87/98/104-key testing (layout switching will be added in future updates):

① Main Typing Area

Covers letters, numbers, symbols, space bar and modifier keys for quick inspection of daily typing keys for failure or poor contact.

② Function & Navigation Key Area

Includes F1-F12 function keys, Ins/Home/PgUp/Del/End/PgDn editing keys and arrow keys, ideal for office workers, designers and developers who frequently use keyboard shortcuts.

③ Numeric Keypad Area

Contains digits 0-9, arithmetic operators, decimal point, enter key and NumLock switch for finance and data entry work. This area will be hidden automatically on 60% layout keyboards.

2. Browser Shortcut Blocking Blocks default shortcuts including F5 refresh, Ctrl+R, Ctrl+W, Ctrl+T and F12 DevTools to avoid accidental page operations during testing.
3. Adaptive Layout Support Fits 61-key compact, 76-key, 87-key TKL, 96-key and full-size 104-key layouts with instant interface and statistic updates after layout switching.
4. Real-Time Latency Monitoring Millisecond latency value between pressing and releasing a key is displayed right after key release for direct comparison of trigger delay among different keys.

Usage Notes

1. Wired mechanical keyboards deliver more stable test results. Native transmission latency exists on Bluetooth and wireless keyboards, so measured values are for reference only.
2. Browser popups or password save prompts during testing are native browser behaviors, just close these popups which will not affect test outcomes.
3. If the matching virtual key does not light up after pressing a physical key, the corresponding physical key may have hardware damage or contact issues.
4. Historical prompt texts will not be saved for concurrent presses over three keys during intensive multi-key tests; only instant anti-ghosting peak value can be observed.
5. Tested key numbers will be preserved after switching keyboard sizes, and the statistical denominator adapts automatically to total keys of the current layout.
